
CBSE Class 10 Exam Pattern 2023
For the academic session 2022-23, CBSE has decided to resume the regular Class 10 board exam and do away with the two-term system. The exam pattern for CBSE Class 10 (2022-23) are as follows:
- Each paper will be 3 hours duration.
- Questions will include case-based, situation-based, open-ended, short-answer, and long-response type questions.
- Total marks in each subject are 100. The theory section is of 80 marks and the remaining 20 marks will be allotted for practicals or internal assessment.
- The theory paper will comprise of the following type of questions with their respective weightage of marks:
- Very Short Answer Questions – 1 mark each
- Short Answer Type Questions I – 2 marks each
- Short Answer Type Questions II – 3 marks each
- Value-based Questions – 4 marks
- Long Answer Type Questions – 5 marks each
- There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.

CBSE Class 10 Exam Date 2023

CBSE will conduct the Class 10 practical exams from January 2, 2023, to February 14, 2023. The Board has urged all the schools to take necessary actions for completing the practical exams within the scheduled deadline. The exams will be held from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM for most of the subjects. Therefore, schools must follow the “Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures for the conduct of practical examinations, project, internal assessment” released by CBSE for maintaining uniformity of information, to ensure that they complete conducting the exams within the provided timeline.
